About AIN

The Animals in Need Fund was created in August 2008 to address the growing need to rescue, treat and place ownerless dogs and cats in the greater South County area as well as provide reduced-cost veterinary services for pet owners facing financial difficulty.

The Animals in Need Fund accepts stray cats and dogs brought to us by Good Samaritans and San Luis Obispo County Animal Services. All animals are examined by a veterinarian, advertised in local papers with local rescue groups and veterinary clinics. If an animal is returned to its owner we ask for a donation to Animals in Need Fund. We also accept pets that are relinquished by their owners on a case-by-case basis.

To date it has been the dedication of the Animals in Need Fund volunteers and the staff at the Nipomo Dog & Cat Hospital that has supported the medical care, spay/neutering, housing and feeding of these rescued companion animals until their owners are found or they are placed in loving adoptive homes.

To help meet the demand of the Animals in Need Fund services and outreach efforts, we are searching for new ways to support these necessary and critical services. We have been busy applying for grants, and are planning future fundraising events offering Central Coast residents an opportunity to learn more about who we are, and support an animal rescue group dedicated to the Central Coast.
