Community Outreach

Supporting Our Community
The volunteers of the Animals In Need Fund strive to do more do more than help injured dogs and cats without homes. We are building a community where every dog and cat is altered, ID tagged, micro-chipped, and placed safely in a loving home. Our community outreach programs provide reduced cost services.

How do we do this?
Low Cost Spay & Neuter Services- We urge all pet owners to be responsible and we invite you to join us in preventing unnecessary pet homelessness & suffering. As of June 2020, we are back to hosting our special Sunday Spay/Neuter clinics once monthly with a co-pay of $25. During these Sunday clinics, we are able to offer free microchipping!  Please call 805-929-2855 to schedule your cat's spay or neuter.

Our Sunday clinic days fill up fast, so our subsidized $20 copay feline spays and neuters may also still be available (limited availability) for surgeries performed during the week at the Nipomo Dog & Cat Hospital. Microchipping is not included but is offered for just $25.  Please call 805-929-2855 to schedule your cat's spay or neuter.

We also offer canine spaying & neutering services at low or no cost to qualifying families. Contact us directly via phone (805) 619-0588 or email (ainfund@earthlink.net) for more information.

Other resources for reduced cost spaying & neutering are:

Low Cost Microchipping- At Nipomo Dog & Cat Hospital, we will place a microchip in your pet and register it for the low cost of $25. This is a lifetime registration with HomeAgain.

Promote Adoption and Discourage Inhumane Breeding-  With millions of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats being euthanized every year in shelters across the country, we support the adoption of dogs, cats (& bunnies, too!).
Learn more about puppy mills:

We rescue cats of all ages from our local shelter- Since beginning our Adoption Program partnership with Petco, we have rescued and placed hundreds and hundreds of cats (of all ages) into new loving homes. Once rescued from the shelter, these cats usually require veterinary care (some serious care, some routine) and when the cat or kitten is ready for adoption, they head to Petco to meet their new families!

In addition to the pets we currently have available for adoption at our PETCO partnership stores or in foster care, Central Coast families might also find the pet love of your life at one of these organizations:

We partner with Community organizations- The Five Cities Homeless Coalition, which works hard to service families and individuals by providing the resources, support, and hope that they need to become self-sufficient, productive members of our community. During these events, individuals can do everything from shower and have a medical examination to fill out applications and be given a cell phone. Now with AINF's participation, individuals can bring their pets along with them. The Animals In Need Fund provides physical examinations, vaccinations, flea prevention, NSAID’s and antibiotics if needed. All products are donated, and the veterinarian for each event volunteers their time. It is a great way to serve those who have found themselves in need of support and assistance and we are proud to be a part of this mission.
